So what is Karahi Chicken?

How to make chicken karahi

Here is a chicken karahi recipe that you can try at home:

Ingredients

  •  1/2 cup ghee (or oil)
  •  550 grams of chicken (boneless and cut into curry pieces)
  •  600 grams of tomatoes (finely chopped)
  •  1 onion garlic (minced)
  •  2 tablespoons ginger (ground)
  •  2 teaspoons salt (or to taste)
  •  2 teaspoons of red chili (paprika)
  •  1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper (crushed)
  •  1 teaspoon chili flakes
  •  1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  •  1/2 tsp coriander powder
  •  1 teaspoon kalonji (black seed, optional)
  •  2 green chilies (cut in half lengthwise)
  •  1/2 bunch cilantro (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup ginger (cut into matchstick pieces)

 Instruction

1. Heat the ghee in a large saucepan or karahi over medium-high heat.

2. Add the chicken and fry until brown on all sides.

3. Add garlic and ginger and cook for 12 minutes.

4. Add tomatoes, salt, red chili, black pepper, chili flakes, cumin and coriander. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Add kalonji (if using) and green chillies. Cook for another 510 minutes.

6. Garnish with fresh coriander and ginger matches.
